Interactive exhibition "Changes of Shadows"
4th April 2014
"Style" Gallery, Gayi 3, Gyumri (Armenia)
Contradicting the traditional perception of shadows as symbols of night and ghost, Vahagn Ghukasyan will present shadows as symbols of the new day that was generated from the energy and light of the sun. For Vahagn shadows are not object trajectories as results of light movements but organisms liberated from objects.
The main aim of the event is to promote the artistic education of children of different ages, create opportunities for them to visit museum exhibitions where they won't be just passive guests but in a way also artists.
All guests of the Interactive Exhibition will be provided with materials to paint inspired by the author's works and the music of "SkAy"rock band, which will improvise rythmic music on the spot, thus creating a special artistic atmoshpere to encourage guests to paint.
As a result the paintings of children and other guests will become animations fixing the shadows as living and moving phenomena whose development is unexpected and mysterious. The animation will be presented at the closing of the event on 14 April.
The exhibition will be implemented within the framework of CAUCULT Caucasus Cultural Initiatives Network project with the support of the EU's Eastern Partnership Culture Programme, Austrian Development Agency and Armenian Caritas.
